The Planning Commission’s foremost function is to design the course for the township’s future, employing the advice and guidance of planning and other professionals where necessary to develop and keep current a Comprehensive Plan. Once the plan is adopted, the Planning Commission sits in judgement on individual land use projects to determine if they are consistent with the guidelines and goals established in the plan and to determine if they meet the regulations of the Zoning Ordinance.

The Planning Commission is responsible to keep the Township Master Plan current and to review development projects to determine if they are consistent with the guidelines and goals established in the plan and to determine if they meet the regulations of the Zoning Ordinance. The Planning Commission reviews all Site Plans and Special or Conditional Land Uses. They recommend changes to the Zoning Ordinance and re-zonings to the Township Board.

With the help of MC Planning, the Planning Commission has revised the Resort Township Master Plan and sent it to the Township Board who has adopted the plan.

The Planning Commission meets on the last Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m.
