Resort Pike Road Park is a 1.2 acre site offering a small picnic area, mini-pavilion, access to Walloon Lake, and stairway providing access to the lake-front. The park is located on the south end of Resort Pike Road and offers limited parking for about five to six vehicles. A 100 foot, landscaped walkway provides easy access to the water front. The walkway contains a crushed stone base providing a stable surface for wheelchair access. There is about fifty feet of lake frontage at this park. While the shore has a sand/gravel composition, people can take advantage of the park for swimming. In addition, there are two mooring buoys located about 75 feet from the shoreline if people would like to moor their watercraft. Recent erosion control improvements were made to protect the embankment facing the lake. These included stone rip-rap and split-rail fencing to encourage people to use the stairway to access the water.
Resort Pike Park Accessibility The grade of the walkway is adequate for barrier-free access. The paved mini-pavilion provides an adequate base foundation for parking wheelchairs during picnicking activities. The stairway providing access to the shoreline has a ramp leading to the first set of stair risers. This allows barrier-free access for lake view observation. However, due to the limited about of property available and slope constraints, the placement of a ramp to the waterfront would be difficult without first acquiring additional property.
