Recreation Plan Survey Results

Posted on August 24th, 2020

Thank you for participating in the Summer 2020 Resort Township Recreation Plan Survey! We received feedback from 127 individuals that will help us develop a new recreation plan to best meet the needs and interests of our residents.

We were pleased to learn that most respondents had visited or were aware of most of the Township recreation areas and excited to hear what you are most interested in having available in our community! Expanded walking and biking paths topped the list with additional key areas of interest including expanded winter access to parks/recreation activities, improved lake access, more youth and handicap accessible recreation/play areas, and pickleball courts. For those interested, you can view the full survey results here.

Another important area of concern was the current state of the Little Traverse Wheelway. For those unaware, the Wheelway is currently closed between East Park and Magnus Park due to severe erosion. We are actively working with the City of Petoskey and Emmet County to determine the best course of action to restore this portion of the Wheelway. We encourage all those interested in seeing it repaired to also reach out to our county representative, Commissioner David White.

Keep an eye out for the full Resort Township Recreation Plan later this year!
